Luke's Origin Story

Merry Christmas denizens of the blogosphere! I know the wait was a little longer this time around, but you need wait no longer. We hope you enjoy finding out how Luke came to be part of our happy family.

Catching Up

Most folks have already seen these but we need to post them in order to feel like we are doing the same for Luke that we did for Max.  Ha, right!  Sorry Luke.

Letters to Santa

The other day Max and I sat down to write a letter to Santa.

"Dear Santa," Max said, "O, R, P, and S, and then four more S's". Then he looked up at me and asked, "Is that enough letters for Santa?"

He couldn't understand why I was laughing so hard.

A New Friend

Yesterday Luke found someone, other than his brother, to interact with.

Luke can sit (sort of)

To be fair he was sitting there perfectly fine for about 5 minutes before I started taping him. I guess he was excited about being on camera.

Dad and Luke go for a swim

This is the first time Luke has ever been in a pool. He doesn't seem too impressed. I'm not surprised, Luke is rarely fazed by new experiences. In fact, he's most content when getting bombarded by new stimuli. It's when you try relaxing on the couch for a half a minute that he turns into a little fusspot. Who's kid is this? Not mine.

Max at Sushi Land

Max was excited to be eating at a resturant where the food came out on a conveyor belt. He was even more excited to find out they served cream puffs.

Four and More

Lucas is 4 months, summer is officially here and we are taking advantage of spending quality time together.  We are also reaping the benefits of our backyard garden this year with some really pretty roses and lots and lots of cherries.

In an effort not to play favorites, here is 5 minutes of Luke talking and smiling.

Driving Mr. Max

With Amber staying home with Luke it's been my job to drop off and pick up Max from daycare on my way to and from work. And everyday when I come home Amber will inevitably ask me, "How was Max?"

My answer usually ranges somewhere between "ok" and "fine". I mean what is there really to say about 10 minute drive?

But I understand why she asks. Stuck in the house all day with an infant can get monotonus and she just wants to know how her other boys are getting along.

So for her I'm posting this video. It is literally the car drive home from daycare, uneditted and uninterrupted as they say. I can't imagine anyone but Amber being interested in this. Enjoy honey, now you know.

It Takes A Village (or at least part of one)

It is so true what they say about it taking a village to raise a family.  We miss Nana terrily already.  Thank you Nana for all that you did while you were here.  We love you!  Here is a little of what was accomplished during your visit  Enjoy!

Cayman opens closet door

For the past few months Amber and I have been blaming each other (and Max) for leaving the hall closet door open. You see our cat, Cayman, likes to nap on the towels we store there so that every time dry yourself off with a fresh towel you end up covered in cat hair. Congratulations Cayman, you win, the bottom shelf is yours.

May the Force be on You

Max has a few pairs of Star Wars big boy underwear that he absolutely loves. Everytime we are upstairs getting changed he insists on putting on a pair then runs around in excitement. He gets so excited in fact that he inevitably has to pee. To his credit, he's never actually peed in his underwear. Instead he strips them off and runs to bathroom to use the potty, leaving the fashion show to his entourage. Giraffe and Horsey are really the only ones with the butt to pull it off, so it usually falls to them to model the intergalactic undies.

The Gang

Max has a lot of toys, and countless stuffed animals, that he will play with from time to time. But for the past several months only 6 have been invited into the inner circle of his entourage. From left to right: Giraffe, Blue Bear, Elmo, Kitty, Baby (aka Dolly) and Horsie.

Brrrr....

This snow day week has sure been an interesting one.  For those of you who live here, you know what I'm talking about.  For those of you lucky enough not have endured the weather here in the Pacific Northwest for the last week, consider yourself lucky.  Here are a few shots from our adventures at home.

The first storm produced enough for a snowman.  Here are Max and Richie with their finished product

The second dump of snow brought much more accumulation and freezing temperatures making it hard to enjoy being outside.

Triple down on danger with this one.
(Don't worry, we were just testing out the chains on the car in the driveway.)

Oppa Shoppa

For the past several months Max has been regularly singing a song we simply refer to as the "Oppa Shoppa song." Max is no stranger to belting out random melodies throughout the day, and normally we're able to decipher his toddlerese after a few bars. But no matter how many times he sings the Oppa Shoppa song we can't figure out what the heck it's suppose to be. We've asked daycare and they have no idea either, although they have admitted to hearing him sing it. It is always the same tune, same words. I've transcribed it below. If you have any idea what this song is please let us know, it's driving me crazy. The only other reasonable explanation I've come up with is that my son is a musical virtuoso and has begun composing orginal scores at age 2.

The Oppa Shoppa Song:

Oppa Shoppa Oppa Shoppa
Needa Needa
Cap Cap Cap
